The importance of being fit

The benefits of being fit might seem obvious. You can run faster, lift heavier, jump higher. That’s fine for athletes but why is it important for those of us who don’t need to do those things?

Your body is the most important thing that you have and the only thing that you truly own. You were born with the same body that you will carry to the end of your life so it is important that you look after it and keep it in tip top condition. Think of your body like a car. A well oiled and maintained engine will keep the car functioning for longer whereas a badly maintained one will break down sooner and your car will fail its MOT. You don’t want to be taking trips to the hospital at a relatively early age.

Stepping away from the doom and gloom, it’s just nicer to be fit and healthy. You will go through the day in a more positive mood and that has a knock on effect on opportunities that open up to you. You will attract more positive people into your life. You will feel more inclined to go out to see your friends, run around with your children, try new activities.
